Volunteer

Being a Picky Chick Volunteer is FUN and EASY!  Most of our Volunteers are HOOKED after working one time....we always have a good time, meet new people and forge new friendships.  It's like a family reunion every season!   While Consignors are NOT required to volunteer, it IS encouraged! 

The biggest reason to Volunteer is to shop the Private Sale!  Volunteers get to shop before the general public during our Private Sale (and 1/2 Off Private Sale!)...which means they get first "dibs" on sale merchandise & usually this is where the best deals are found!  (A few items that come to memory are the $7 Vera Bradley diaper bag, the $50 Thomas the Train with track (retail $250), the $30 Pottery Barn changing table...oh there are so many others!).

So, what are the perks for Volunteering?

  • Work 1 shift to earn 70% & shop the Private Sale at 3pm
  • 2 shifts earn 70%/Shop the Private Sale at 2pm/Shop 1/2 OFF Party at 8pm
  • 3 shifts earn 70%/Shop the Private Sale at 1pm/Shop 1/2 OFF Party at 8pm/$5 of participation fee REFUNDED
  • 4 shifts earn 75%/Shop the Private Sale at Noon/Shop 1/2 OFF Party at 8pm/$10 participation fee REFUNDED
  • Nonworking Consignors earn 60%/Shop the Private Sale at 3pm
  • Express Consignors earn 50% and Shop the Private Sale at 3pm/Volunteering would adjust shop times only.
BUT, You DON'T have to consign to be a Volunteer!!
Non Consignor Volunteers have perks too:

  • Work 1 shift & shop the Private Sale at 3pm
  • 2 shifts shop the Private Sale at 2pm/Shop 1/2 Off Party at 8pm
  • 3 shifts shop the Private Sale at 1pm/Shop 1/2 Off Party at 8pm/earn $10 Picky Chick Cash
  • 4 shifts shop the Private Sale at Noon/Shop 1/2 Off Party at 8pm/earn $20 Picky Chick Cash
Picky Chick Cash will be awarded AFTER all shifts are complete.  If last shift occurs after sale end, payment will be made in cash.

Because our Consignment Event relies solely on Volunteers, It is imperative that you show up for any scheduled shifts.  If a volunteer does not show up to work his/her shift(s), any Consignment earnings will be reduced to to 50% of sales and future participation with The Picky Chick will NOT be allowed.  If you have an emergency & must miss your shift, contact Beth at 865.789.7525 ASAP.


What's Involved?

A typical work shift is 3 hours and may include the following duties:

  • Inspect, Place & Organize Merchandise during Check Ins
  • Assist Customers
  • Assist with Check Outs...pull tags, count items, bag merchandise, etc
  • General straightening and clean up of Sales Area
  • Monitor Entrance or Exit Door
  • Sort Merchandise for Pick Up

Once you have registered with our sale, you may select to register as a Volunteer Only or as a Consignor/Volunteer.  Please select shifts marked HIGH priority before selecting other shifts.  Note:  Flier Distribution Shifts can be performed at your own pace & if childcare is an issue for you, these shifts can be done with kids (they can help you!).  We also offer light duty shifts, just email beth@thepickychick.com to request light duty!  Thanks for your help in making The Picky Chick such a great sale!  We couldn't do it without YOU!
